Connecting microenterprise practitioners in a global learning community

I'm going to be working with Esperanza International in the Domincan Republic this upcoming year and we are looking to lend institutional loans to create or improve schools in both rural and urban Domincan Republic, and in the future, hopefully Haiti.

Currently, Esperanza does this type of lending:

  • Community Bank Lending (group lending)
  • Individual Loans (individuals that qualify for bigger loans that are income generating)
  • Housing Projects (individuals that qualify for bigger loans that are related to home or housing improvement)

We don't yet have a model or loan product developed for making loans to schools or other institutions and I am researching this now.

Do you know of current MFI organizations that are making loans to schools or other lending institutions where I can find detailed information?

thanks!
-Aaron
