Note from the Field: Roy's Story

In a small district called Gully Heights in Kingston, Jamaica, a young ornamental fish farmer named Roy* was gunned down on a street corner not far from the ‘corner’ he led. Roy was one of the beneficiaries of the Building a Bridge program, an initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and managed by the SEEP Network’s Value Initiative in partnership with the Jamaica Exporters Association, the Area Youth Foundation, and the Competitiveness Company. About Me
I work developing learning products and managing online communications with the Value Initiative for the SEEP network. Our mission is to advance urban value chain development in order to help millions work their way out of poverty. By working with urban value chain development programs around the world, we are hoping to gain a better understanding of how we can use value chains to eradicate poverty at a larger scale and more sustainable level. Producer’s Proper Price

To materialize our all initiative we have to be planned for ensures Producer’s Proper Price. Since long we are working alleviate poverty. Unfortunately in some country we are yet to see visible change. Major drawback we failed to ensure Producer’s Proper Price as poorer has little capacity to participate in decision making. I believe this is the time to ponder on.

Hi Bethany it's great joining you at SEEP TACOPE does alot of activities like livelihiood, Health, Education, Child protection in Mwanza City. We work with Women, Youth and Children whose are the most vulnerable group in our society today they face many challenges ranging from dug abuse to unemployment statistically and uncreditable group within the MFI this group on comparison are vastly affected i therefore believe that through sharing we can come up with some tangible strategy whicch can help those groups to overcome the challenge of poverty as millenium development goal vise reduction of extreme poverty.
